Synthetic versus human voices in audiobooks: The human emotional intimacy effect

Human voices narrate most audiobooks, but the fast development of speech synthesis technology has enabled possibility using artificial voices. This raises question whether listeners’ cognitive processing is same when listening to a synthetic or human voice telling story. research aims compare perception, creation mental images, narrative engagement, physiological response, and recognition information stories conveyed by The results showed that listeners enjoyed narrated more than one. Also, they created were engaged, paid attention, had positive emotional remembered information. Speech experienced considerable progress. However, there are still significant differences versus voices, so them long stories, such as audiobooks do, difficult.
